چکیده
Abstract Background The cerebrospinal fluid tap test (CSF TT) is used for selecting shunt surgery candidates among patients with idiopathic normal pressure hydrocephalus (iNPH). We aimed to evaluate the predictive value of CSF TT, by using Hellström iNPH scale shunted a standardized method. Methods One hundred and sixteen shunt-operated were retrospectively included in this study. gait balance domains as outcome measures TT total score postoperative outcome. A positive response was defined change ? 5 points domain 16 domain. Differences between responders non-responders, sensitivity, specificity, negative values, accuracy, correlations changes from baseline post follow-up, calculated. Results In there 63.8% correspondingly 44.3% had significantly better (gait P ? 0.001, 0.012) improved more (P 0.001) 0.001). No differences or could be found neuropsychological urinary continence assessments postoperatively. sensitivity specificity postoperatively 68.1% 52.0% 47.8% 68.0% balance, respectively. Conclusions measure, has clear limitations predicting results. may predict outcomes gait, but too insensitive.

The predictive value of cerebrospinal fluid tap-test in normal pressure hydrocephalus.
Eighteen patients (mean age of 66.5 years) with normal pressure hydrocephalus (NPH) underwent a ventriculo-peritoneal shunt surgery. Prior to operation a cerebrospinal fluid tap-test (CSF-TT) was performed with measurements of gait pattern and psychometric functions (memory, visuo-motor speed and visuo-constructive skills) before and after the removal of 50 ml CSF by lumbar puncture (LP). Fifte...

BACKGROUND Idiopathic normal pressure hydrocephalus (iNPH) is a type of communicating hydrocephalus also known as non-obstructive hydrocephalus. This type of hydrocephalus is caused by impaired cerebrospinal fluid reabsorption without any obstruction in the ventricular system and is associated with normal cerebrospinal fluid pressure. It is characterised clinically by gait disturbance, cognitiv...
متن کاملCerebrospinal Fluid Biomarkers in Idiopathic Normal Pressure Hydrocephalus
The diagnosis of idiopathic normal pressure hydrocephalus (iNPH) is still challenging. Alzheimer's disease (AD), along with vascular dementia, the most important differential diagnosis for iNPH, has several potential cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) biomarkers which might help in the selection of patients for shunt treatment. The aim of this study was to compare a battery of CSF biomarkers including w...

Idiopathic normal pressure hydrocephalus (INPH) is a syndrome signified by a disturbance to the CSF system, where the cause is unknown and the diagnosis is difficult...
